The Stern student is probably not from the United States, therefore already substantially rich by virtue of paying full tuition to the Stern School of Business. She’s probably majoring in international business and has already lived in 3 other countries. This is her typical attire. Keep things minimal, yet classic and sophisticated. Nothing that makes too much of a statement. The statement is made by the brands and prices of the clothes.
A wool coat with sharp edges gives a masculine silhouette and warmth for those cold days on Wall Street.
To keep things more serious, she wears neutrals. Colours are too playful. A warm cashmere knit is comfy and a status symbol all in one.
Pants are worn in rebellion against the male-dominated business world. Skirts are for secretaries.
A flat shoe serves the same purpose.
Hair is up in a loose bun with a few playful strands.
Jewelry is only gold: a pendant necklace and a few small hoops.
The eyelashes are separated and lightly combed upward. Eye contact is important in networking and making deals.
Don’t forget the crisp red lip, which always takes confidence to wear.
The handbag, the only explicitly feminine item, is strictly Goyard or LV. A tote carries a small makeup bag for lipstick touchups, an expensive (probably also Goyard) leather wallet, Fiji Water, and a laptop (Macbook Pro, of course).
The Stern students are usually holding an extra hot black coffee from Starbucks and in the Bobst private study rooms.
